NOW’s purpose is to take action through intersectional grassroots activism to promote feminist ideals, lead societal change, eliminate discrimination, and achieve and protect the equal rights of all women and girls in all aspects of social, political, and economic life.

Mid-Suffolk NOW is a chapter of the National Organization for Women located on Long Island, New York.
NOW was founded in 1966, just three years after the publication of Betty Friedan's The Feminine Mystique. NOW Mid-Suffolk is an outgrowth of the original Stony Brook University Campus Group, formed in the early 1970s. NOW Mid-Suffolk continues to have an active presence in our community fighting for gender equality and positive social change.
